Course Description
The Generations Initiative is a Bible-based curriculum that incorporates the Word of God to help 21st-century parents develop successful parenting skills. The curriculum was developed by Rev. Jasper Williams, Jr., president/founder of African American Churches Transforming Society (AACTS), a non-profit organization. The mission of AACTS is to serve as an intermediary for churches to provide training, technical assistance, and resources to rebuild African American communities, starting with the home. The target audiences for this curriculum are African American parents (couples, singles, divorced, grandparents, or other caregivers) with children between the ages of six to twelve. How- ever, the parenting skills taught in this curriculum can be effective in younger or older children. Furthermore, the Christian principles in this curriculum are relevant for all parents, regardless of race or ethnicity, who desire to raise their children according to the Word of God. The central theme of the curriculum is based on Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
